Privacy Policy for PromptMGR Extension

1. Overview

PromptMGR ("we," "us," "our") operates the PromptMGR Chrome extension. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your data is handled securely and transparently.

2. Data Collection and Usage

We believe in the principle of data minimization.

  • Personal Data: We do not collect personally identifiable information (name, email address, physical location) directly, except as needed for authentication to your PromptMGR account.

  • Browsing History: We do not track or store your browsing history.

  • User Input: When you enable scoring or optimization, text you enter into prompts on supported AI chat platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, Perplexity, Meta AI, Le Chat, Pi, and You.com) may be processed by our backend for real-time scoring, optimization suggestions, and semantic tagging. Auto-scoring is off by default — your prompt text is only sent when you turn it on in the extension's settings. These features send your input to our Supabase backend and OpenAI's API for analysis.

3. Permissions Justification

PromptMGR requires the following permissions to function:

  • storage: Saves your preferences, authentication tokens, and cached prompt data locally in your browser.

  • scripting: Used with activeTab to read your selected text only when you explicitly import it; also injects the PromptMGR widget on supported AI chat platforms.

  • activeTab: Reads your current text selection only when you click Import, so it can be saved as a prompt.

  • contextMenus: Adds "Import to PromptMGR" and "Insert prompt" to the right-click menu.

  • Host Permissions: The extension functions only on these AI chat platforms: ChatGPT (chat.openai.com, chatgpt.com), Claude (claude.ai), Google Gemini (gemini.google.com), Microsoft Copilot (copilot.microsoft.com, copilot.cloud.microsoft.com, copilot.com), Grok (grok.com, grok.x.ai), Perplexity (perplexity.ai), Meta AI (meta.ai), Le Chat (chat.mistral.ai), Pi (pi.ai, heypi.com), and You.com (you.com).

4. Data Handling and Third-Party Services

Supabase: Your prompts and scoring data are sent to our Supabase backend for processing and storage. Supabase handles authentication, database operations, and edge functions. Supabase's privacy policy applies: https://supabase.com/privacy

OpenAI API: For certain features (scoring, optimization), your prompt text may be sent to OpenAI's API for analysis. OpenAI's privacy policy applies: https://openai.com/privacy

Local Storage: Most data is stored locally in your browser's storage, protected by Chrome's built-in security features.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your data to third parties. We do not use your data for marketing, advertising, or any purpose beyond providing the core functionality of the extension.

Data is only shared with:

  • Supabase (for authentication and feature processing)

  • OpenAI (for scoring and optimization features, if enabled)

  • As required by law

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

  • Authentication tokens are encrypted and stored securely

  • Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS)

  • Supabase provides additional security and access controls

  • Data stored locally is protected by Chrome's security sandbox

7. Data Retention

  • Prompts: Retained in our database for historical reference and analytics

  • Authentication Tokens: Stored locally until you log out or uninstall the extension

  • Cache: Automatically cleared when navigating between chat sessions

You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension constitutes acceptance of updated policies.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data stored in PromptMGR

  • Request deletion of your account and data

  • Enable or disable optional features (e.g., auto-scoring, analytics) at any time in settings

  • Contact us with privacy concerns
